Swimmers are surfers of the time, figures capable of riding the wave, suddenly sinking and re-emerging from the past into the present. After all, swimming, using the words of the sports journalist Marco Pastonesi, it is a sport of silence, imagination and fantasies. What is striking when seeing the artist’s recent works is the sense of profound stillness. Tales about water that put the human figure, often small or secluded, in dialogue with the space that surrounds it. An infinite, dreamlike space, characterized by a constant color – blue – and by a treatment of the pictorial surface that is not unrelated to color layers.
